ABOUT Q-RIDE

To obtain your Motorcycle Learners permit you must.
-
Hold a provisional or open car licence and have held the licence for at least 1 year. This makes sure you have on-road driving experience before you learn to ride.

Successfully complete a Pre-Learner Course.

Complete a motorcycle knowledge test online if you have already completed the Q-Ride pre-learner course.

Once you pass and pay for your knowledge test, your driver licence will have the RE learner licence added to it and a new drivers licence will be sent to you. You can now start learning to ride a motorcycle.
This Pre-Learner course is run over 2 days, six hours per day.

To Obtain your RE class (restricted licence) you must.

Have held your learners licence a minumim of 3 month and be confidendt enough as a rider to be able to complete an 8 hour RE Q-Ride course.

Complete an 8 hour course to obtain a certificate of competency.

Go to any TMR office and upgrade your licence, or go online using your certificate of competency number and upgrade your licence

To Obtain your R class (un-restricted licence) you must.

Have held your RE (restricted licence) for a minumim of 2 years (if obtained after 1st October) or 1 year (if obtained prior to 1st October).

Complete an 3-4 hour course to obtain a certificate of competency.

Go to any TMR office and upgrade your licence, or go online using your certificate of competency number and upgrade your licence
